Jellatech is a developer of cutting-edge technologies to produce high quality, pure, animal-free collagen and gelatin. Founded by a group of innovators, dreamers, entrepreneurs and scientists, Jellatech is on a mission to eliminate animals from the food system, making better ingredient products - starting with collagen and gelatin.
Collagen is a by-product of the meat industry. You may be familiar with collagen from seeing it in skin serums, or with its derivative, gelatin, in gummy bears - but it’s likely around you much more than you realize. This ingredient is used in a number of applications such as for food texturizers, vaccine stabilizers, pill capsules, the clarification of wine and beer, and many more.
Today, the only way to source native, functional collagen is to extract it from animals. This is what they are changing at Jellatech. Jellatech makes functional, native collagen - without animals. Cellular agriculture enables one to produce a more sustainable, smarter high quality collagen that breaks the cycle of relying on an inefficient and unethical supply chain of live animals.
Notes:
Ryan Bethencourt w/ Wild Earth (Vegan pet Food) is one of the major backers of Jellatech
Gelatin is a derivative from Collagen, and what gummies, or what Jello is made of
Collagen 2.0 – Innovation in 21st Century, been around 200+ years, and uses parts f animal people do not want
Collagen is usually used for health, beauty, supplements for joint health (in powdered form), skin care, burn injuries, and skin grafts
Start w/ cell culture from a live animal, extract collagen or product – need 1 cow & take a biopsy, then grow cell. Process is very efficient – use less land, and less animals
Sustainable Future with byproduct of animal cells, use specialized cells
Also byproducts of meat industry like beer, wine, pills, gummy
Impossible Burgers – plant based hamburgers
