business down over 50% in some industries

Manufacturing and service down almost 50%

Car – can they recover, will Gov’t bailout? 2009 needed $82 bil loan, is BK likely?

Travel off 85%, Hotel down at least 70-80%

Oil down 50%

Retail – co’s going to online mkt have hope, online up 50%, online was already threatening retail

1 in 4 jobs retail related

15k stores could close, 600k workers already furloughed, and major retailers like JC Pennys, Nordstrom, Gap, Macys, Kohl’s in trouble – expect BK and rent abatement

others will go under – up to 50% of retail could fail, bk as bailout prob will not happen

Macerich – mall operator in trouble with stores closed 

NBC News – retail has been on life support 4/7/2020
